Успение Прествятой Богородицы - история праздника
Официальными выходными днями являются 25 декабря - Рождество, 6 января – Крещение, а также праздники с «плавающей» датой: Зеленый понедельник - первый день Великого поста, Пасха, которая всегда приходится на воскресенье и следующий за ней понедельник.
Праздник Троицы также всегда выпадает на понедельник и является нерабочим днём.
Сегодняшний праздник - Успение Пресвятой Богородицы – праздник с фиксированной датой, иногда его так и называют для краткости – «15 августа».
Праздник посвящается воспоминанию о кончине Божьей Матери и Ее телесного вознесения на небеса. Для современногоПарадокс – как может быть смерть праздником?
Но для истинно верующих людей смерть – это просто переход в другое состояние. А для Богоматери это было также воссоединение с Сыном.
На Востоке и на Западе этот праздник имеет различные названия. Греки называли его «koimesis» - «погружение в сон» (церк-слав. - успение).
Ранние христианские памятники содержат различные и, зачастую, противоречивые сведения о том, где и как долго жила Богоматерь после окончания земной жизни Христа.
Также не точны сведения о кончине и погребении Богородицы. В большинстве текстов упоминается следующий сюжет: после вознесения Иисуса Христа на небо Дева Мария жила в Иерусалиме под опекой и заботой Иоанна Богослова, творила молитвы в ожидании встречи с Сыном. За три дня до кончины Девы Марии к Ней явился архангел Гавриил и возвестил о скором переходе к блаженному успению. Она призвала всех апостолов, чтобы с ними проститься.
Согласно желанию Богоматери ее тело было погребено в Гефсимании около Иерусалима, между могилами родителей и Иосифа Обручника.
Через три дня к могиле пришел апостол Фома, отсутствовавший в Иерусалиме в день Ее кончины, но вместо тела Девы Марии в гробнице были розы.
Как и другие праздники почитания Богородицы, в этот день для верующих обязательно посещение церковной службы, если для этого нет серьезных препятствий
