В театре рухнула крыша избежать трагедии помогло чудо
Иначе как чудом не назвать. Если бы крыша рухнула на несколько дней раньше или день позже, Кипр был бы в трауре. Тонны опорных колон и креплений обрушились бы на 1200 зрителей во главе с Президентом страны или на тысячу школьников, отмечающих окончание учебного года.
"К счастью, никто не пострадал. Хотя масштаб разрушения огромен, мы рады, что не оплакиваем жертв. Такая удача, что в этот вечер никаких представлений в театре не шло", – сказала Мавру репортерам. Потолок обрушился почти над всей площадью зрительного зала. В тот день театр был закрыт. Но на следующий же день его должны были посетить сотни школьников – здесь планировалось провести мероприятие, посвященное окончанию учебного года. А всего за пару дней до этого полный зал театра (рассчитанный на 1200 человек), включая Президента Димитриса Христофиаса и его жену Элси, аплодировал выступлению балета Большого театра.
По предварительным оценкам экспертов, размер ущерба огромный. Осталась невредимой лишь сцена, большая часть зрительского зала была погребена под обломками рухнувшей крыши. Снаружи здание выглядит неповрежденным. Увидеть масштаб разрушения можно лишь находясь над театром. Глава Кипрской театральной организации (THOC) Варнавас Кирьязис также заявил, что избежать трагедии помогло чудо. Обычно в театре каждый день проходят выступления. Но именно в среду он был пуст. Даже театральная труппа, которая постоянно пребывает в театре, находилась в этот день в Школе слепых на репетиции.
Мэр Никосии Элени Мавру, выступая на срочно созванной пресс-конференции заявила, что Муниципалитет попросил Совет министров назначить специальный комитет для расследования, почему обрушилась крыша недавно отремонтированного театра. В его состав войдут эксперты как местные, так и иностранные. "Я подчеркиваю, что Муниципалитет Никосии настаивает на объективном и глубоком расследовании", – заявила Мавру. – "Так или иначе, но Муниципалитет вовлечен в происшедшее".
Напомним, что в 2005 году Муниципалитет выбрал фирму-подрядчика, которая занималась ремонтом театра. Проект обошелся более чем в пять млн евро. Мавру заметила, что Муниципалитет следил за проведением ремонтных работ, которые велись в соответствии с исследованиями экспертов. Вся документация, связанная с самим зданием и его ремонтом, будет передана членам специального комитета, особо подчеркнула мэр Никосии.
Компания A. Panayides Contracting Public Ltd., фирма-подрядчик, отвечавшая за ремонт и обновление театра, готова сотрудничать со следователями. "Обновление театра было крупным проектом, в который были вовлечены технические и другие службы, многочисленные эксперты и компании", – говорится в заявлении фирмы. Компания подчеркивает, что крыша обрушилась в той части здания, где основные работы состояли в замене листов рифленого железа на крыше, а не опорных балок, которые, по мнению экспертов, в замене не нуждались.
