За долгие годы моего проживания на Кипре и тесного общения с местным населением я заметила несколько забавных закономерностей, которыми хочу сегодня поделиться с уважаемыми читателями.
Ты из России - почему же тебе холодно???
Ни для кого не секрет что кипрские и вообще средиземноморские дома - не самое уютное место в холодное время года.
Мраморный пол, одинарные стекла, полное отсутствие теплоизоляции и центрального отопления делают греческие, израильские, ливанские, кипрские дома «ледяными дворцами» в период с ноября по март.
Когда на улице 15 градусов – это тепло. Когда же 15 градусов у вас в спальне, а в ванной комнате по утрам из рта валит пар – это не есть хорошо.
Но местные жители за годы и десятилетия этой холодовой, так сказать, эволюции адаптировались к такому экстриму. Они просто тепло одеваются, надевают уличную обувь, и чувствуют себя вполне комфортно. В мои первые зимы на Кипре я мерзла просто дико – у меня всегда был красный нос и по утрам мне больше всего хотелось, чтобы как можно скорее наступило лето.
Однажды утром, в проливной дождь, припарковавшись на стоянке у работы, я, изрядно вымокнув, наконец-то добралась до офиса. По улицам текли реки, вследствие чего мои брюки промокли до колен. Руки заледенели от холодного дождя и порывов ветра. Первым делом я зашла в бухгалтерию кое-что уточнить. Обменявшись привычным «как дела» - «хорошо», мы продолжили типовое общение с бухгалтером беседой про погоду. Она окинула меня взглядом с головы до ног и сказала: «Вот это дождь!» Я отвечаю: «Да, я ужасно замерзла». Наша бухгалтер, бросив на меня изумленный взгляд поверх очков, удивленно сказала: «Ну ты же из России, должна быть привычна к холоду!» Я засмеялась: «да, я из России, но в данный момент я промокла и чувствую себя неважно. Она: «А вы [русские] разве мерзнете?»
Продолжать этот диалог я сочла бессмысленной тратой времени.
Кстати, как это не смешно, подобное удивление по поводу того что «русским тоже бывает холодно» я наблюдаю очень часто. И когда в летний зной я слышу экспрессивные причитания по поводу жары, солнца и духоты, мне хочется сказать: «Ну вы же киприоты, почему вам жарко?»
Ещё меня очень выводило из себя вот что – иногда зимой бывает +8+10, на небе облака, пасмурно. Я собираюсь в парк с детьми. Звонит свекровь: «Кори, как дела? Что делаете?» я честно отвечаю: «собираемся идти гулять». Она, в ужасе: «Ты что!!! холод такой, заморозишь детей!» Я долго иронизировала по поводу этого, пока муж не объяснил мне, что, по ощущениям местных жителей, если они не могут носить одежду с коротким рукавом, значит – холодно. Тогда я перестала бурно реагировать на метеорологические изыски свекрови.
Дом. Аптека. Фонарь. Периптеро.
Ещё одна местная особенность – на Кипре вы перестаете мыслить категориями улиц. И начинаете объяснять дорогу, ориентируясь на светофоры, банки, кафе и заправочные станции. Как правило, кипрские города разделены на районы. Каждый район - как маленький город, он имеет свою мэрию, поликлинику, почтовое отделение, супермаркеты и магазины.
Названия улиц в разных районах одинаковые – поэтому, когда вы пишете письма, нужно обязательно указывать ТК – почтовый индекс. Иначе ваше письмо будет отправлено «на деревню дедушке».
Вот почему не так важно знать, где расположена улица Критис или Анексартисиас. Улиц с таким названием в одном городе может быть 6-7 – по числу районов. Куда важнее знать для начала основные трассы в городе и иметь общее представление о том, как проехать в тот или иной район. Ну и ориентиры – Старбакс, Дебенамс, мэрия, почта, аптека.
Примечательно, что иностранцы, недавно приехавшие на Кипр, поначалу пытаются уточнять название улицы и номер дома.
Но, прожив тут какое-то время, бросают это бесполезное занятие и начинают ориентироваться по тому же принципу, что и местные. Кроме того, на многих улицах отсутствуют таблички с названиями. И на очень многих домах – номера. Так что описание маршрута вполне может звучать так: на первом светофоре свернешь направо, проедешь заправку Esso, на втором повороте сворачиваешь налево, доедешь до аптеки, проедешь ещё 200 метров и увидишь салон красоты, там будет старое спиленное дерево, сразу после него повернешь направо и увидишь мой дом – он третий слева (я думаю, принцип понятен).
Очень жаль было однажды зашедшего в офиса командированного итальянца, который спрашивал, как ему проехать на телеканал РИК из Строволоса (он был за рулем арендованной машины).
Если человек не знает, где находится полицейское отделение Строволоса, турфирма GAP Vassilopoulos и Афалассас авеню, объяснить дорогу «на пальцах» практически нереально. По карте он не очень понял.
Надеюсь, что искомый телеканал он в конце концов нашел..
